

We are looking for high school students to join the JFS Student Impact Board!
If you are passionate about serving the community and supporting JFS Dallas, this is a great opportunity for you. As a Student Board Member, you’ll volunteer on various projects that help individuals and families in need, build community, and develop your leadership and organizational skills. You can make an impact in many ways, such as hosting food and hygiene drives, volunteering in the JFS Holiday Market, stocking shelves in the Food Pantry, or coming up with new and creative ways to help. The Student Impact Board has something for everyone!
What to expect:
- Must be a high school student, aged 14-18
- Complete a Commitment Form where members are required to contribute a $25 membership fee and participate in our give/get approach to raise $100 annually.
- “Give/Get” Options:
- Secure financial support from sponsors, employers, or other donors
- Contribute in in-kind items (gift cards/products for drives) to meet organizational needs.
- “Give/Get” Options:
- Attend at least 6 out of 9 meetings
- Participate in at least 5 out of 9 projects/events
- You will receive 14+ community service hours that count toward your school community service requirements

President and Vice President
If you want to develop your leadership skills, this role is for you! You will help as a resource for new board members, represent the Student Impact Board at JFS events, and serve as Liaison with JFS staff through email or messaging. The president and vice president will also rotate on attending the virtual event team meetings.

Treasurer
Manage membership dues and oversee budgeting for events

Communications Director
Ensure members fulfill their participation requirements, coordinate event sign-ups, and maintain logistical records, including note-taking during meetings.

Members commit to a one-year term starting from their orientation date.
Meeting Cadence:
Monthly meetings will be structured as follows:
Virtual Meeting: Involving the event team, President, and Vice President.
Full Board Meeting: All members attend to discuss upcoming events and provide feedback for event teams.
Monthly Event: Participation in the scheduled event.
Events will align with the academic calendar, occurring from August to May.
Event Leads:
Each student must commit to being a part of the event team for one event throughout the term. Students get to choose the event they would like to sign up for. They can sign up for one of the four leadership roles:
Secretary
Takes meeting notes, tracks vendor and supply needs, and coordinates with JFS staff to confirm event requirements. Creates an action plan to ensure all necessary steps are taken for a successful event.
Team Lead
Oversees event planning, ensuring the event leads stay on task. Assigns responsibilities and reminds team members of their action items.
Project Coordinator
Ensures we have enough participation from both Student Impact Board members and external volunteers. Creates the event’s run-of-show and collaborates with the Communications Director to boost sign-ups.
Social Media Coordinator
Manages event promotion through social media, creating posts to drive sign-ups and highlight the event.
