This year’s luncheon will take place on Wednesday\, April 25\, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Retired WFAA-TV news anchor\, Gloria Campos\, will serve as emcee for the event. \nThe lifelong educator and military mom will focus on her notable personal accomplishments\, which include advocating for issues that impact JFS clients — breast cancer through the Biden Breast Health Initiative\, family violence through the Biden Foundation\, and serving as a voice for children through her position as board chair of the international nonprofit\, Save the Children. \nFounded in 2004\, the Woman to Woman Luncheon celebrates the power\, influence and impact of women\, and provides critical funding to support JFS’ nationally-accredited mental health and social services available to anyone in need regardless of race\, religion\, ethnicity or ability to pay. DESCRIPTION:In honor of Special Needs Awareness Month\, the JFS Special Needs Partnership is hosting a FREE Community-Wide Inclusion Experience prior to the Volunteer Appreciation event. The Inclusion Experience is a hands-on interactive\, multi-sensory simulation designed for participants to experience how people of all abilities live. Created by local clinical social workers\, professional educators\, and parents\, this program focuses on targeted learning differences and disabilities that affect people worldwide. The program includes simulations of speech\, vision\, hearing\, dyslexia\, fine motor\, executive function disabilities and more. \nIt is our hope that after participating in our program\, people will develop a greater sense of understanding and willingly include others who are different from them.
